Spectra

Spectra boasts a rainbow swirled shell. With a quizzical gaze, she looks over many a commuter from where she’s currently perched above Highway 88 in Lisle, IL. We hope she is reminding people to slow down and take in the rainbows.

I’ve had some moments of prolonged eye contact with snails, and I’m always amazed by how altered I feel in their witness. Their slow movement pauses fixing on you, and those long stemmed eyes are so expressive. I wanted to bring the wonder I have felt in those moments into this sculpture.
